People will never appreciate the effort you go through to create something as visually appealing as this.
In the world that is Newgrounds, people say it's the storyline that carries a movie and that animation, eye-candy only plays 2nd fiddle, a support mechanism if you will. But umm...hello? Is this a portal for would-be directors of hollywood movies? No...it's a flash portal and what is 'flash' essentially? It's an ANIMATING program! If you want a good storyline, go read a book! It should be the 'graphics' or animation that carries a movie, and everything else should used to support that! But sadly, that's not the reality of things.
Most of the Top 50 material aren't visually stunning, but they make up for it with clever ideas or good plots... and for some reason they're considered the best pieces of 'flash' work out there!? ie. the artists of those movies are the most-skilled 'flash' artists on NG!? I'm a lil confused. I'd probably argue that they're obviously the most talented 'overall-artist' but perhaps not the best animator/artist of 'flash'.
I'm not saying that the only important thing is 'graphics graphics graphics', but god, people gotta stop neglecting a talented flash animator when they see one. I mean, you could be the best flash animator in the world but people will flame you for not being a good director, or a good storywriter, or a talented sound editor. Is that what's expected from an 'animator' of 'flash' these days? Well according to the people of NG, I guess it is.
So if all you wanna do is make it to the Top 50, make something that has an orginal concept, a great storyline and good sound. The graphics should be 'ok' but don't spend too much time on it! Alternatively, create a flash movie based on a popular video game (Final Fantasy, Mario, Megaman, Zelda) make it mediocre and the biased views that is the NG audience will love it and label your movie as the best flash work they've ever seen!
